Course Overview

This course was previously called MSc Finance with Economics

An understanding of the financial and economic environment in which business operates is essential for strategic decisions in any organisation. This environment is increasingly global and, hence, increasingly beyond the capacity of organisations to simply pick it up as they go along. Even if not trained as a finance expert or as a specialist economist a form grounding in these areas is increasingly a key advantage for middle and senior management.

There is much evidence that employers are, more than ever, keenly aware of the importance of a good understanding of finance and economics, particularly when this is combined with the ability to apply these skills in practical situations. This MSc has been developed with two key features in mind – the development of a strong capacity in economics in finance and the ability to apply these skills in practice.

The modern world increasingly requires an ability to understand both economics and finance in a global context. This degree has been developed to help you develop the skills to not only understand key developments in global markets but also to be able to apply these skills. Middle and senior managers in business and in a wide range of organisations increasingly require these skills.

This degree should be a great asset in your career development by providing you with the necessary practical skills. This Masters degree will enable you to develop key technical, analytical and decision-making skills but will also develop the personal skills you need to succeed in any career: effective team work, objective analysis and communication.
